What Generosity Really Means
What 'Generosity' Really Means
Let's get something straight right out of the gate: generosity at Church isn't about guilt trips, pledge cards, or hitting a budget number.
It's so much bigger than that.
When we talk about generosity, we're talking about a way of life that reflects the heart of God. It's the overflow of what happens when you realize everything you have, your time, your talents, your treasure, isn't really yours to begin with.
More Than Money
Yeah, financial giving matters. We're not going to pretend it doesn't.
But if that's where your definition of generosity begins and ends, you're missing the whole picture.

Generosity is the mom who shows up early on Sunday to help set up chairs. It's the teenager who volunteers to run the sound board. It's the couple that opens their home for a small group even though their house isn't Pinterest-perfect.
It's time. It's talent. It's heart.
God doesn't need your money, He owns the cattle on a thousand hills. But He invites you into the joy of participating in what He's doing. And that participation looks different for everyone.
The Heart Behind the Gift
Here's what the Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Corinth:
"You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don't give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves a person who gives cheerfully." , 2 Corinthians 9:7 (NLT)
Cheerfully.
Not begrudgingly. Not out of obligation. Not because the pastor gave a guilt-laden sermon.
Cheerfully.
That word changes everything. Because if you're giving cheerfully, whether it's your money, your Saturday morning, or your graphic design skills, it means something's happened in your heart. You've moved from "I have to" to "I get to."

That's the shift we're after at Church. We want to create a culture where generosity isn't a burden, it's a privilege. Where serving doesn't drain you, it fills you up.
What Generosity Looks Like Here
So what does this actually look like in practice?
It looks like the guy who brings donuts every week because he knows community happens better over coffee and carbs.
It looks like the artist who designs our social media graphics without being asked, just because she wants to see people connect with what God's doing.
It looks like the family that babysits for the single mom so she can have a night to breathe.

It looks like the businessman who mentors the college student, sharing hard-won wisdom over lunch.
It looks like financial giving, yes: tithes and offerings that fuel ministry, support missionaries, and meet real needs in our community.
But it all flows from the same source: gratitude.
The Overflow Principle
Here's the thing about generosity: you can't manufacture it. You can't guilt people into it. You can't program it or systematize it.
Generosity is always overflow.
It's what happens when you've encountered the ridiculous, lavish, over-the-top generosity of God and you just can't help but let it spill out onto everyone around you.
Think about it. God gave His Son. Jesus gave His life. The Spirit gives you power, peace, purpose, and presence.
Everything you have is a gift.
Once that truth sinks in: really sinks in: generosity stops being a duty and starts being a delight.
We're Learning Together
Look, we don't have this all figured out. We're not some mega-church with a slick generosity campaign and matching t-shirts.
We're just a gathering of imperfect people learning what it means to live open-handedly in a world that tells us to clutch everything tight.
Some weeks we nail it. Other weeks we're selfish and small-hearted and we have to come back to the cross and remember who we are.

But we're committed to creating space where generosity can flourish. Where you can give freely without pressure. Where you can receive freely without shame.
Because here's the beautiful paradox: the more you give, the more you receive. Not in some prosperity-gospel, name-it-and-claim-it way. But in the deep-soul satisfaction that comes from being part of something bigger than yourself.
Your Invitation
So here's what we want you to know: there's room for you here.
Maybe you've got financial margin and you want to invest in Kingdom work. Amazing. We'd love to talk about how your giving can make an impact.
Maybe you're scraping by paycheck to paycheck, but you've got a skill set or a few hours on a weekend. Perfect. We need you.
Maybe you're not sure what you have to offer, but you're willing to show up and see what happens. That's enough. Come as you are.
Generosity isn't about having it all together. It's about showing up with what you've got and trusting God to multiply it.
At Church, we're building something different. A community where generosity isn't a program: it's our DNA. Where giving flows from gratitude, not guilt. Where everyone has something to contribute, and everyone's contribution matters.

Because at the end of the day, we believe God is wildly generous with us. And the most natural response to that kind of love is to turn around and pour it out on everyone around us.
That's what generosity really means here. And we'd love for you to be part of it.
